About Calvary Christian School

We believe that Calvary Christian College was established by God to develop future leaders of integrity.
The school is known as Calvary Christian College and comprises three sections:

Calvary Primary School : Grade R
Calvary Christian College: Primary school : Grades 1-6
Calvary Christian College: High School : Grades 7-12
Our History
The school was started as a ministry of the church & still operates under its auspices today.
The decision to start the high school was taken in 2002. A year later, we secured a 16 hectare property adjacent to the school/church property. This property will be developed as sport fields and high school buildings.

In 2004 and 2005, the school logo was redesigned and we registered the high school with the Department of Education. In 2006 we launched the high school incorporating Grade 7 into the high school. We have grown the high school one grade at a time and in 2010, our first matrics wrote the Senior Certificate exam. Calvary students are assessed by the Independent Examination Board. Only one learner missed the mark - our pass rate was 94%. Our matrics scored a number of distinctions, As, Bs and Cs.

Some of our learners are now studying at universities like Wits, UJ and Rhodes University. Others have enrolled for diploma studies, while a few are working to save money for studies.

FUTURE
The entire school is set to grow to 600 learners : 300 in the primary and 300 in the high school.

This means we will have two classes per grade.

Both schools are on a growth curve at the moment:
The primary school has two classes per grade from grade 1 to grade 4. In 2012 we added our second grade 5 class.

The high school has two grade 8 classes and in 2012 we doubled our grade 9 class.
To accommodate this growth, God presented us with an opportunity to have the new property tiered ready for building. At present, we are in discussions with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to have our Environmental Impact Assessment approved. Building plans have been drawn up and we have begun the process of submitting these to the Council for approval.

The new development means that the high school will be accommodated in two new double storey buildings equipped with a science laboratory, computer centre, library and modern, environmentally friendly classrooms. The primary school will remain on the existing property. The sports fields on the new property will include an athletics track, 2 netball courts, a soccer field and an indoor sports facility.
